About us

Slip and Slide outfits in Montana's famed Hunting District area 313. This district is located 12 miles north of Gardiner, Montana and Yellowstone National Park. We have a US Forest Service camp permit in the Gallatin National Forest in the Absarokee-Beartooth Wilderness Area. It is a rugged mountainous area - our camp's elevation is above 7500 feet. The area varies from heavy timber to open meadows to rugged mountain cliffs. Camp is nearly seven miles from our ranch. We drive two miles on our private road to the horse camp. From that point on, we're in the saddle! When the weather is extremely cold we pull out of camp and hunt out of the lodge.

Our hunting country has a healthy native elk population, a good mule deer population, and bear hunting. This country also is the traditional thoroughfare for the migrating Northern Yellowstone elk herd.

Our History

In 1884 Paul Rigler came to the mountains above the Yellowstone River and ran a boarding house, saloon, and grocery store in the mining community of Aldridge, Montana. In 1908 he moved his wife and six sons out of the hills and onto this ranch site. From that date on, the family has been involved with ranching, outfitting and hunting.

As the fourth generation on this ranch, Ryan Rigler is proud to offer the same quality outdoor experience, rich with the tradition that started years before him. The commitment is, and always has been, to excellence. While Frank Rigler offers experience, and lots of great stories.
